Traditional Long-Sleeved First Holy Communion Dresses

Here are some examples of First Holy Communion dresses and veils that I have been asked to make.


They are made to measure, so you would need to be able to send me some exact measurements of your child; and I charge between £130 and £280 (about $170 - $330 US) for making up, depending on fabric choice, and style. The cost of the dress will be extra if pure silks or lace are required.

I am quite happy to ship overseas, (as long as the buyer pays the postage!) 

If you wish to order a dress, please contact me via my email (my address is under the "contact me" heading at top right) and I will send a sizing chart to fill in, and will also be happy to discuss any particular style or fabric that you may want. I work with most fabrics, the only style I will not do is a sleeveless or "strappy" dress! 

Once I have received the measurements, it usually takes me, at the most (depending on whether I have other commitments) a week to make up the dress - I can make one in a couple of days if it is urgent! (as long as I have the fabric in stock.) The postage to the USA has taken between 5 days and 14 days, so that needs to be factored in. Thus, if a dress was required for the beginning of May for overseas, I would need to have the measurements by, at the latest, the first week in April. I do from time to time, have some ready made dresses, which cost slightly less than the made to measure ones - please don't hesitate to enquire.

Angelina's Dress

Zelie's dress is similar to Angelina's with a slightly different fabric and trim,
of pure cotton Broderie Anglaise.

 I worked with Amanda's mother to create this lovely dress, veil, rosary purse and book bag, in the style that she wanted, so that it could be an heirloom for Amanda. She wanted me to personalise it too, so it has labels with Amanda's name inside.

The veil is made in the style of the 1920's or 30's, and does look beautiful on her.

I am afraid there is no more of this exact same fabric left. The same style dress can be made with a cotton voile overlay, (more like those of the second Angelina & Stella Maris below)

This dress, made for another Angelina,
 is in a similar style again to Rachel's with 3/4 length sleeves,

but is made from

pure cotton broderie anglaise fabric, with a very lightweight

cotton lawn lining.

Catherine's dress is made of a pure cotton lawn
 with added Broderie Anglaise trim, and pin tucks.
It is a very light weight fabric, and has been made without a lining to the skirt
 since that made it less costly to send overseas,
so the owner is providing her own petticoat (which is needed!)

Stella Maris is wearing a dress

She has a choice of mantilla style veil,
 or, as can be seen below, a veil from
the same cotton voile as the dress.

And if you look carefully, you can see that Angelina's dress (shown above near the top) has been carefully stored and was re-used by her younger sisters several years later,

And this year, (2015) it was the youngest girl, Treasure Rose's turn to wear the family heirloom!  So I am glad to be able to say that my creations do stand the test of time!
